We handle divorce cases in Ukraine, including marriages with foreign citizens. Depending on the situation, a marriage is dissolved either through the civil registry office or through court, and in many cases the spouses do not need to attend in person: we act under a power of attorney and keep you informed at every step.
Two ways to divorce in Ukraine
Through the registry office
If both spouses agree and have no minor children, the marriage can be dissolved administratively through the registry office. This is the fastest and simplest route, typically taking about a month from filing the joint application.
Through court
If there are minor children, or one spouse does not consent or avoids the process, the divorce goes through court. Alongside the divorce itself, the court can resolve related issues: child residence, alimony and division of marital property. We prepare the claim, represent you at hearings and obtain the final decision.
Divorce with a foreign citizen
Marriages between Ukrainian and foreign citizens are dissolved in Ukraine under Ukrainian law, and personal presence can usually be replaced by a power of attorney. After the decision takes effect we help legalize it for use abroad: court-certified copies, apostille and translation, so the divorce is recognized in your country.

Frequently asked questions
Can I divorce in Ukraine without coming to Ukraine?
In most cases yes. Court divorce can be handled through a representative under a power of attorney; we prepare the documents and attend hearings for you.
How long does a divorce take?
An administrative divorce takes about a month. A court divorce depends on the case: with mutual consent it is usually a matter of a few months, contested cases take longer.
My spouse is a foreign citizen. Where do we file?
If one spouse is a Ukrainian citizen or resides in Ukraine, the case can usually be handled by Ukrainian courts. We assess jurisdiction at the consultation.
Will the Ukrainian divorce be valid abroad?
Yes, after proper legalization. We prepare certified copies, apostille and translations so the decision is recognized in your country.
Can alimony and property be decided in the same case?
Yes. Child support, residence of the child and division of marital property can be resolved by the court together with or after the divorce.
What documents do I need to start?
Passport, marriage certificate and, if there are children, their birth certificates. If some documents are missing, we help restore them.
